Brahma, without the remembrance of Gaṇeśa in the influence of Rajo guṇa (the source of creativity), engaged himself in the task of creating the universe and was tormented by many obstacles and desired to give up life abandoning the task undertaken. He became conscious of his transgression by worshiping Chiṁtāmaṇī, the Chittaprakasaka who transcends all the attributes and cherished by Sakhyabhakti he praised Śrī Chiṁtāmaṇī, who bestows the happiness and stable mind.

When Brahma started the task of creating the universe, he forgot to worship Lord Gaṇeśa.

With pride and ego Brahma started feeling that he had the intelligence to create this universe, he possessed the potential to accomplish the task of creation of the universe. He can do whatever he wants with the help of his powers. He began to feel egoistic about his power & position instead of taking it as grace of God.

Lord Gaṇeśa performed an extraordinary Leela to remove his ego. The creation started to take place differently than what Lord Brahma had thought. Four-legged creatures began to appear when he thought of two legs. Instead of just one head, the lives of four or five heads begin to emerge. Later on, Brahma’s resemblance began to emerge. Unimaginable animals began to emerge. Some had many eyes, while others were blind. Some have had numerous limbs and legs, whereas others did not. Śrī Brahma was completely perplexed by this creation.

He was haunted with the question as to why this is happening? How does this creation differ from what I imagined, or what I didn’t think about at all? The crisis did not stop there. Now all these living beings started to trouble Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma was irritated. He did not know what to do about it.

Brahma, who has the vision of all the four directions with his four heads, who could see everywhere, i.e. omniscient, became worried because of his ignorance. None of the four heads were useful to him. He was constantly thinking as to why this was happening. “I don’t know how to get out of this. Lord Brahma was surrounded by complete darkness. “I am the creator of everything, I am all-encompassing, my power is limitless, the strength of others is dependent on my strength, and I am unparalleled”, the crisis was precipitated by such egoistic behavior. However, his ego was shattered in this manner. The stress subsided as his ego disappeared. He was humbled and surrendered to Lord Gaṇeśa.

He realized that the only way to overcome all of these difficulties was to surrender to Śrī Vighneśvara and Lord Śrī Brahma expressed it to Bhagwan Gaṇeśa intimately. God always appears when the ego disappears. Bhagwan Gaṇeśa appeared in the form of Śrī Chiṁtāmaṇī to relieve Brahma’s troubles. Lord Brahma’s mind was free of ego & pride. By the grace of Lord Gaṇeśa, his mind became stable. It is because of ego and selfishness that the mind becomes unstable. By the grace of Lord Gaṇeśa, these things were removed.

The land of penance in which Lord Brahma’s mind attained stability, immobility (Sthāvaratā) was named by Brahma as Sthavara Kṣetra. Over the period of time, the name was changed and came to be known as Theur. Lord Brahma established Śrī Chiṁtāmaṇī, which stabilizes the mind in this region. Śrī Chiṁtāmaṇī is still present here to remove all the worries of the devotees.
